Our Heritage

In the Lindquist client archives, history is etched in an elegant hand. Here you’ll find work inquiries, even personal notes of thanks and commendation, from the likes of Roosevelt, Carnegie, Rockefeller and Ford. From 1890 onward, these illustrious men and women—giants of industry, great patrons of the arts, the doyennes of culture and society—trusted our founding partners for all their domestic staffing needs.

Indeed, our Manhattan, Greenwich and Palm Beach offices, founded in 1890, 1926 and 1932 respectively, are among the nation’s oldest domestic staffing firms. Early on, we staffed the Manhattan mansions of New York’s Knickerbocker elite, the sprawling summer homes of their later rivals, and ultimately, such legendary estates as Mar-a-Lago, the Post family estate and the summer “cottages” of Newport, Rhode Island. And while we no longer place parlor maids, footmen and ladies’ maids, we continue to serve America’s finest families. We count among our clients the great, great grandchildren of those innovators and society-makers who shaped our country. And while we are honor-bound to protect their identities, you have our assurance that you’re in good company with them and with us.
